OdeGand 2009 : This gallery is about OdeGand 2009 in Ghent/Gent (Belgium), marking the start of the Festival of Flanders (Festival Van Vlaanderen) with numerous indoors and outdoors music concerts and performances. Outdoors there were different performers and brass bands. It's a pity the day was overcast. Late in the evening there was the performance of the Brussels Philharmonic / Het Vlaams Radio Orkest o.l.v. Michel Tabachnik accompanied by "Les ballets C de la B" on a floating podium/stage on the river "Leie" between the Graslei and Korenlei. This all was followed by awesome fireworks. OdeGand 2007 : This gallery is about OdeGand 2007 in Ghent/Gent (Belgium), marking the start of the Festival of Flanders (Festival Van Vlaanderen) with numerous indoors and outdoors music concerts and performances. Outdoors there were brass bands and, late in the evening, the performance of Barbara Hendricks on a floating podium/stage on the river "Leie" between the Graslei and Korenlei. The night images of the concert of Barbara Hendricks and the fireworks are shot with the Nikon D50 on a tripod with the 18-200mm VRII lens attached (ML-L3 remote control used). Halfvastenfoor 2007 Gent / Mid Lent Fun Fair 2007 Ghent (Belgium) : Annual Halfvastenfoor / Mid Lent Fun Fair 2007 in Ghent (Gent), Belgium. For the first time since 3 years the fun fair (kermis or foor in Flemish) is again located near the centre of the city on the Sint Pietersplein in front of the Sint-Pietersbasiliek, the Sint Amandsplein and the Kramersplein. During three weeks (from March 10th - April 1st) more than 100,000 people visited more than 108 fun fair attractions. It was a big success and fun, FUN, F U N! It was the 510th edition making it the oldest outdoor event in Belgium. All the images are shot with the Nikkor 18-200mm VRII lens. No post processing at all -- as usual. Day Of The Cops/Flikkendag 2008 : In this gallery you'll find photos of the 10th edition of the Day Of The Cops (Flikkendag 2008) in Ghent (Gent), Belgium. Reportedly, the security and emergency services (police, fire brigade, customs, the army, civil protection etc.) attracted about 135,000 visitors to their demonstrations, also thanks to the very beautiful weather and the sun coming through around noon after a very misty and foggy morning. This time again, some units of the Dutch police (like the Maastricht bike team) were present. Please note that Original formats are not enabled to protect my images from theft. Campo Santo Nocturne 2008 (Ghent/Gent, Belgium) : The Campo Santo cemetery in Sint-Amandsberg in the outskirts of Ghent (Gent), Belgium is one of the most renown and beautiful cemeteries in Belgium. Here are burried many famous people (poets, composers, writers, artists etc.) like Karel van de Woestijne, Charles Doudelet, Karel Ledeganck, Frans Masereel, Corneille Heymans and many many other Belgian celebrities. More than 130 gravestones are protected monuments. The cemetery needs a lot of restoration and renovation -- and the necessary funds. The nocturne was organized by some 100 pupils of the Sint-Janscollege, a school located next to the cemetery. They've done a marvellous and most appreciated job by organizing such an exquisite and successful multimedia event. Please note that Original formats are disabled to protect my images from theft.
